Children’s Hospital LA Tour

September 13th, 2008 at 6:39 pm

On Friday Sept 5th, Heather, Simon and I had the opportunity to meet with two amazing people! Michelle Martinez, Assistant Director of Corporate Relations for Children’s Hospital LA and Denise Bayles, Director, Children’s Miracle Network for Children’s Hospital LA. This hospital does truly inspirational things! It’s a hospital full of colors, prints and kids… kids doing their best to be kids. Our campaign ambassador, Simon Curtis knew all too well the challenges some of these children face. We saw several brave boys and girls with Leukemia. Simon noted that, thanks to funding from Children’s Miracle Network, and a forward thinking hospital, that these children had a lot more opportunity to escape from the hospital room and feel the sun, play video games or hear a story being read by a volunteer. Children’s Miracle Network provides much needed funding for hospitals like this all across the country. This is money that can be used for whatever needs the hospital has, no strings. Heather, Simon and I feel honored to have had this opportunity.

Thanks for all of your support while we work to launch this campaign :)

Siggraph

I am beyond pleased to announce advancements on a campaign that is sure to have the gaming and entertainment field giving back to the community. Cause Creative is lucky enough to have video game veteran Jeff Kleinzweig onboard as Campaign Manager. Be sure to look out for more information to come.

Andre, Jeff and myself were all lucky enough to spend the day at Siggraph, a toy store for everything motion graphics and computer animation. Although most of the technology was overwhelming for a business girl such as myself it was fun to get personal lessons on crazy new advancements that are years in the making. The three of us made it out to our school’s Alumni Event. It was great to catch up with old professors and make new friends.

Cause Creative Entertainment

July 29th, 2008 at 8:29 pm

Art and music have always been passions of mine, and I’m really excited to be able to use that passion to create a campaign that will support youth art and music programs. Creativity is such a crucial aspect of education, and due to budget cutbacks, these are often the first programs to go. I am determined to show the importance of giving people, especially youth, the opportunity to express themselves artistically and to support anyone who has the desire to pursue it.

I am fortunate enough to be surrounded with talented and creative people. So, with my Entertainment Business background, and their support, I believe an exciting and lucrative event is in the works.

FCCLA

July 29th, 2008 at 8:15 pm

I was crazy in high school, if there was an office to run for in school, I ran for it!! Assemblies became productions with lights, sound effects and disastrous stunts! This craziness led me to two of the most amazing teachers in the country. Michelle McCartney and Kathy Hendrix. The two extraordinary teachers were cursed by my constant involvement in their clubs. Kathy was my high school’s adviser for FCCLA, a great organization I became active with. Michelle was the the student body government adviser, and as the guy who held every position IMAGINABLE, she had to endure me more than anyone.

Today, they are both very distinguished educators. I am beyond excited that my company will have the opportunity to work with them on developing a massive youth campaign. Michelle’s son, has been elected to lead FCCLA’s community service focus. This is huge! This guy is amazing! 220,000 students from around the nation will look to his leadership. I met with the three of them and talked at length with Brian about his huge aspirations for FCCLA. We see eye to eye and you can bet that you’ll be seeing some HUGE things from Brian, Kathy, Michelle and Cause Creative! To work with FCCLA and my teachers once again is a dream come true!!

Pictured from left to right, me (Corey Gibson), Kathy Hendrix, Michelle McCartney and Brian Vance.

Below is a message from Brian:

Greetings, This is Brian Vance, the new National Vice President of Community Service for the Family Career and Community Leaders of America. My goal is to help FCCLA create national corporate partnerships and to expand our community service projects. I just recently met with Corey Gibson and was able to begin working on what I hope is the largest youth community service campaign yet. I am excited for what this project will bring. I look forward to working with all of you in making this a success.

Washington Apples!!

July 25th, 2008 at 1:06 pm

I’ve always wanted to develop a campaign that would encourage kids to live a healthy lifestyle. I just returned from a trip back home where I visited my parents, both heavily involved in the apple industry. My dad has spent over 30 years in the industry and my mom is a commodities inspector for the Department of Agriculture. She makes sure the apples leaving WA meet the standards of countries like Mexico and Egypt.

SOOO, why not get the apple industry on board for a great campaign?? My conversation with the Washington Apple Commission went great and you can expect to see a lot more out of CCM geared towards healthy children and Washington Apples!!

Here are some crazy apple facts. We’ve all been told the story of Johnny Appleseed, right? Well, did you know that today growing apples is a very serious and exact science? In fact, apples are no longer grown from seeds! Apples are now developed in laboratories. Trees are now genetically engineered by scientists, many of whom are at the Washington State University. The graphing of trees is what has helped to create the many different kinds of apples you see in stores today

10 - 12 BILLION Washington apples are hand picked every year! There are no harvesting machines to do this. If you put all those apples in a line it would circle the earth 12 times!
The photo is me learning how to inspect an apple destined for Mexico. Mexico requires that 2% of all apples being shipped must be inspected. The apples are searched for the grade (outside apple condition) sanitation (no bugs) and no more than 2 two leaves per box!… my mom is the instructor…box passed!!

Our Spectacular! Celebrity Ambassador

There is one thing that ultimately brought Heather and me (Corey) together… Simon Curtis.   Heather grew up with Simon in Tulsa, Oklahoma and I’ve known the guy since his move to California 4 years ago.

Simon is a Leukemia survivor who not only beat the odds, but proved to be an incredibly inspirational kid. Not only did he beat cancer but he obtained is dreams as well… more on that to come.

While working in PR with Allison & Partners I had the opportunity (though for a short period of time) to work on my absolute DREAM job… to help develop a campaign to help kids with Leukemia.  While my role on this particular project was short lived, it was a wakeup call for me.  The energy and passion I had for that project showed me the importance of being passionate about the projects you work on.  Heather felt the same way and… here we are!  Working on what we’re passionate about!

Simon will prove to be an inspiration to many in the months to come.  A child diagnosed with Leukemia at age 10 who, with no hair, booked a national Broadway show while on Chemotherapy.  10 year later he is a rising star in Hollywood.  Any child battling disease can do what Simon has done and  Heather and I are working on a campaign that will help share his story with those kids who need an extra boost.  We are SO excited about this!  It’s our flagship campaign and we wont take no for an answer.

We feel very lucky to have Simon Curtis as a best friend and as a consultant in our business!  …And he’s lucky to have us!

Indiana

July 18th, 2008 at 11:02 am

Heather and I (Corey) had a full but fun plate when we flew to Indianapolis, Indiana.  Working on a youth campaign near and dear to our hearts, we met with National FFA!  It was a great meeting, one we had been preparing for for weeks.  Well, we’re happy to report that this meeting was among the best  we’ve ever had!  We think BIG at Cause Creative and had a big presentation to give.  The person we met with was great and had personal connections that helped her to share our passion for helping children with blood disease!  Cause Creative Marketing is working on the largest youth service learning campaign in the US!  We’d tell you more but our lawyer says…

“not quite yet.”  We can tell you that we will raise millions to help kids battling disease.

On this trip we also had the opportunity to meet up with Andre Pochon, one of our new campaign managers.  He’s an amazing guy with a great resume!  Among his former jobs he worked with the people who operate the Brick Yard - best known for being the Indy 500 track.  Well, it just so happens that our meeting was the same week as the Indy 500, the largest one day sporting event in the world!  We had the unique privilege of joining the George family (track owners) on race day!  WOW!! Nothing could prepare us… Police escorts to the track, pit passes, seats with the family in their suite…

you name it!  It was an amazing day!  They are amazing people who give a lot to help animals and people alike.

While the Indy 500 was amazing, we are most excited about what we hope is going to be a great relationship with National FFA…

We’ll keep you posted!

This picture is of Heather, Andre and I at the Indy 500.  I would have loved to take a picture outside of the National FFA headquarters but, I didn’t want to look like a tourist at that particular moment.

Vancouver BC was SPECTACULAR!  Heather and I spent 4 busy days with our Creative Consultant and good friend Simon Curtis on the set of Nickelodeon’s Spectacular!  The cast is amazing and we can tell you that this is going to me a monumental franchise!  All the keys are in place for this to be HUGE! We look forward to our meeting with one of the producers when the film is over… We can’t tell you all of the details just yet, keep your eyes on project yoUth and the talented kids in Spectacular!

This photo was taken at dinner with some of the cast including Victoria Justice from Zoey 101, Simon Curtis, Andrea from Degrassi the Next Generation, and Simon’s Music producer Jadion who was visiting with his wife Tonya Yoney.
